The 20th Century World II This course traces the course and impact of World War II with particular emphasis on the breakup of the European colonial empires and the emergence of new nations in Africa and Asia; examines the rise to world dominance of the United States and the Soviet Union, the background of the Cold War, and the course of "West" and "East" relations since 1945; and discusses the historical origins of major international problems (such as Middle East tensions, Latin American revolution, Third World crises, etc.). |
