Earth Systems Science This course introduces the basic principles of Earth systems for non-science majors as well as prospective majors. This course provides a broad background in geoscience and the basic tools needed to understand the Earth as a complex interacting system consisting of the geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, biosphere and anthroposphere. Topics include geologic time and Earth history, Earth materials and their origins, internal and external Earth processes, natural hazards and the role and impact of human activity on Earth systems, including climate change.
