This course involves classroom discussions of criminal investigations, independent research, and the use of laboratory instruments and techniques employed in forensic science examinations. The investigation of crime is complex, affected by both social and scientific issues. Factors such as human behavior, social issues, the media, and political implications impact the investigative process. Science also has its influence on criminal investigations through the work of forensic scientists and technicians. During this course, students will explore the interrelation of social and forensic sciences through the study of high profile criminal investigations. Students can choose to use these 4 credits to satisfy either a Science-N or Social Science-A graduation requirement.
