HONR_262FN_01 | Honors: Science on Stage Meets: 8/28/2019-12/19/2019 Kalispell Campus Note: Students must be admitted to the Honors Program to register for this class. This course will examine several plays that weave scientific content into the plot lines of the drama. This tradition of science on the stage can be traced from early theatrical works through present day. Through readings and discussions, we will explore the scientific concepts presented in the plays as well as the conflicts, controversies, dramatic themes, and theatrical relevance of the plays themselves. Students will use scientific methods and philosophies along with script analysis, character development, and dramatic form to explore the drama of scientific discovery and the stories of the people behind it. Honors: Science on Stage Prerequisite: acceptance into the Scholars Program.This course involves critical analysis of major themes of the sciences coordinated and examined through the fine arts. Skills in critical reading/analysis and the development of ideas through argument, writing, and oral communication will be utilized in order to engage student's knowledge, imagination and creativity. |
